Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy is a process through which clients work with a mental health therapist one-on-one in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental environment. Therapist and the client work together to help the client identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, and set personal goals. Individual therapy can help with a wide range of emotional difficulties and challenges. Common issues include:

  • Difficulties forming lasting relationships

  • Problems related to divorce and separation

  • Difficulty managing anxiety

  • Feeling isolated

  • Grief and loss related issues

  • Depression

  • Communication problems

  • Anger management difficulties

  • Dissatisfaction with work

  • Difficulty with work-life balance

  • Low self-esteem.

Appointments are typically scheduled once weekly or twice weekly, allowing you sufficient time with your therapist to develop a trusting relationship in which the two of you can engage the issues in depth; after an initial assessment and discussion of goals, you and your therapist will establish your treatment plan, including the frequency and scheduling of appointments.
